[INTRODUCTION]
Welcome to Jessica Emmett's offical portfolio of work.
I am a freelance Media & Community Artist based in North Oxfordshire, UK who explores very raw and personal experiences of being transracially adopted by examining adoption processes and themes surrounding family, race and cultural displacement. The foundation of my practice stems from digital film and photography, which tend to lead to installations, performance, digital/web and interactive pieces. To find out in more details you can go to the [PRESENT] part of my website. I also do a number to talks, art workshops and design, web, photographic & illistration commissions.
I was born in Hong Kong and adopted by a British couple that were living there at the time. My birth mother was a Vietnamese refugee boat person who fled to Hong Kong after theVietnam War. I lived in HK for the first 16yrs of my life in which I then moved to the north of England with my (adopted) family. To find out more details about my adoption you can go to the [PAST] section of my website.
